I ran and ran and ran,
To things, to people and to places,
Bought all the things that can make me look how they say a woman should look.
Been to all the beautiful places, just to conclude it’s all overrated.
Pleased, begged and pleaded to all the people to understand that I am a good person.
I ran and ran and ran,
Until I was exhausted and there was no option left.
A full mirror I saw somewhere, attracted me towards itself.
I bought the mirror and got it at my place.
I thought it was something about the mirror,
But it was about the woman I saw in the mirror.
The woman I refused to make an effort to know or even care for years.
And the journey of meeting and greeting that woman started, from the mirror.
She became my cheerleader, my protector and my friend quickly.
We were able to interchange the roles as needed.
She has a potential to move the hearts with her words.
Her warmth can be felt in every room she enters.
She could be too much for you, because of her big emotions.
She tries hard to not to care about everything but generally she does.
She has sparkle in her eyes when she talks about the world, she wanna create.
She wants to uplift almost every woman she meets on her way.
She sometimes tries to hide her sadness, fears and grief beneath her anger.
She is mostly labeled as strong and brave, but I have seen her broken into pieces.
She believes in bringing change but struggles to give up on people, places and things easily.
She has to let go million things, million times in her journey.
But she is learning to do that with grace and flow.
Cheers to that woman and her becoming.
The woman is me.
The woman might be you.

Lovely piece, Harneek.
We run - from this and towards that - and then, eventually, we realize the only person we can be at peace with is ourselves. But the running is necessary, too: it's a means of getting to the person we are.
I hope everyone finds themselves; I hope they know they'll have to do it many times, for who we are is itself an evolving thing.
Lovely lovely piece. 🪞
