My dear Anxiety!
When she arrives,
My cheeks would turn red,
My hands would be cold as ice,
My heart would beat fast.
Something in my stomach would feel like shrinking.
I had plans to write,
But I have to be with her now.
Sometimes I know the reason of her arrival.
Sometimes I am not too sure.
She doesn’t harm anyone,
If I acknowledge her arrival.
She can create a mess,
If I deny her existence.
To break the ice, I pour some hot tea.
And ask, how can I help?
She says her top priority is to keep me safe.
I tell her we are safe now.
We can just breathe, rest or may be dance,
Whatever you like my friend.
I can cook your favorite meal for you,
We can go for custard donut afterwards.
You can stay the night if you want.
That’s how we are becoming friends,
My Anxiety and me!!
Harneek!

What a beautifully written poem, I love this idea, I felt my own anxiety reading it and it dropping. Telling it you are safe, love this.
Anxiety is a tricky friend to deal with.
Great stuff, Harneek!
