Her heart was beating fast,
Her hands were shaking when she put the keys to open the door,
She couldn’t believe what she just saw,
She felt betrayed again by the same people,
Kind words and not so kind actions,
A classic trap for humanity,
She came inside and tried to gather some courage,
May be, she can face it and act like she has it altogether,
She almost had it before this moment,
But her body wasn’t cooperating,
She was pushing her mind to think what she can do now or whom she can call,
She was not in a state to make any logical decision,
Her state was that somebody should hold her, hug her and she can just exist,
Her mind and body were screaming, why, why, why?
With shaking hands, she picked her phone and tried to reach out to few people,
Nothing worked, no luck,
She remembered and hated all people, who has ever called her lucky,
Now any voice from outside, felt like a threat,
For a moment, she wished if she could be transported to her parent’s house,
Feelings of unsafety in a locked apartment,
Seconds felt like hours and minutes like years,
The time passing in such moments can only be measured by her feelings,
Her leftover logical mind in that moment advised her to call the emergency,
Do you report such events to emergency?
Is this a state of emergency?
What if, they don’t see this as an emergency?
With all those questions in her mind, she called the emergency?
A woman asked, what’s your emergency?
She broke down with a flood of tears,
She doesn’t understand where to start from and what should she say,
Her whole life felt like an emergency in that moment.
Harneek!

There are places to go when we are injured physically, but where are we taught to go when we are injured internally. Although there are places available, it is not as mainstream as emergency services. It’s a reminder to normalise, talk and show in media about how to get help when we are hurt internally. 💕
Hoping she's doing better; wishing her well. Everything passes, esp emergencies. She should know that she'll be well after this emergency.
